This grand and exquisitely detailed carousel horse is categorized as a "Stander". It was originally carved by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1927. During the period when carousel horses were hand-carved, this manufacturer was regarded to be the creator of the highest quality and most elaborate animals. For this reason, original PTC carousel horses – as they are called – are highly sought after by collectors and command at auction as much as $50,000 for each original masterwork.
